How I work
A brief warning before hiring me
I ask a lot of questions. Vague goals and fuzzy thinking tend to hide the real problem, so I’ll want to understand the why, the assumptions, and what success should look like.
I care about outcomes more than appearances. I’ll challenge busywork and processes that no longer help, and I’d rather build something people can rely on than polish something that only looks good in a presentation.
I’m direct, but not unkind. When I take something on, I feel responsible for seeing it through: questioning, refining, and working with people until the result is right.
If you want someone curious, analytical, and comfortable taking ownership, we’ll probably work well together.

I’ve designed and run analytics platforms for large organisations where security, governance, and auditability matter. I focus on clear definitions, reliable data, and controls that make the numbers safe to use.
Delivery in demanding environments
I led technical delivery for a government analytics migration, from early design through release. I aligned architecture with security and performance needs, coordinated teams, and introduced repeatable build and test practices.
IoT from edge to cloud
I’ve built IoT analytics solutions spanning sensors, edge capture, and cloud pipelines. That work included privacy-enhancing approaches and bespoke compression to reduce overhead while preserving useful signal.

Experience
University of Birmingham — Data & Reporting Systems Lead
I lead a technical workstream around Oracle Fusion and its surrounding applications, balancing platform stability with ongoing change. I help shape integrations across the organisation and own release management and automation, making deployments more predictable.
Kern Analytics — Analytics Architect
I designed IoT data solutions and privacy-enhancing analytics across multiple sectors. I worked across edge capture and cloud pipelines, improving telemetry reliability and tuning encoding and compression for sensor data.
Capgemini UK — Senior Engineering Lead
I led technical delivery for a high-profile government analytics migration, keeping architecture aligned with strict security and performance requirements. I coordinated teams, planning, budgets, and reporting, and introduced repeatable build and test practices.
Mindtree UK — BI Principal Consultant
I delivered SAP analytics at enterprise scale and helped organisations build executive decision support. I led analytics workstreams for a global manufacturer, built voice-assisted and touch-friendly dashboards, and shaped migration and adoption plans.
A lot of the work was about people as much as platforms: aligning stakeholders, de-escalating difficult situations, and turning ambitious roadmaps into deliverable plans.
Earlier roles — Solution Architect and related positions
I led BI programmes from data integration and modelling through to executive dashboards. I also worked on governance, data quality, global BusinessObjects migrations, training, and at-risk projects across the UK, Europe, and Asia–Pacific.

Outside of work
I volunteer-manage at a local theatre, looking after rotas, events, audio-visual, and front of house. It’s a good reminder that live operations are ultimately about people.
I also like building things to see how they work: applications, IoT projects, electronics, and the occasional deep dive into an idea that’s been sitting around for too long. I write about some of that on Tech. Trek. Tinker.
When I’m away from a screen, I’m usually walking, orienteering, exploring, cooking, or finding a project the family can join in with.
